The opening of the exhibition, which is the result of cooperation between Zagreb's Klovicevi Dvori gallery and Paris-based Picasso Museum, was also attended by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic who opened the exhibition.
The Zagreb exhibition features 380 works of art made between 1935 and 1945, of which some 80 are Picasso's original drawings, oils and graphics, while the rest are photographs by Dora Maar.
The exhibition will close on November 28.
