SPLIT, Sept 8 (Hina) - The County Court in the southern coastal city
of Split on Wednesday rejected a motion by the Public Prosecutor for eight
former military police officers, charged with committing war crimes against
civilians in the Lora military detention centre in 1992, to be remanded in
custody.The motion was dismissed as groundless, court spokeswoman Marica
Scepanovic told reporters.
The Public Prosecutor has requested that the accused be remanded in
custody because of the possibility of escape and "particularly serious
circumstances in which the crimes were committed".
