The SDP issued a statement on Friday, appealing to citizens to raise their voice and not allow streets to be named after war criminals.
The initiative for renaming the street has been launched by Mostar deputy mayor and high-ranking SDA official Hamdija Jahic, and demands have increased after the monument to Budak in Sveti Rok in Croatia was removed on August 27.
After the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the former authorities of Croat-majority west Mostar renamed the street that had up until then borne the name of Mostar poet Aleksa Santic.
Mile Budak was a writer and a minister in the Nazi-style government in Croatia during the Second World War.
