Biskupic and Arima talked about the importance of culture in the two countries' histories. Biskupic said Croatia was grateful for the assistance of the Japanese government to Croatia's culture and science.
Arima, a former deputy in the Japanese parliament, expressed interest in the work of the Croatian Culture Ministry and the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports.
Arima's collection of haiku poems was translated from English by Luko Paljetak. The book was published by the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences (HAZU) with the help of the Culture Ministry.
Also present at the talks were Japanese Ambassador to Croatia Kaname Ikeda and academician Vladimir Paar.
This afternoon, the Japanese physicist will be presented with the diploma of an HAZU associate member.
