Autor: mses
DUBROVNIK, April 10 (Hina) - The picture book about Marin Drzic, a famous medieval Croatian playwright, written by Luko Paljetak and illustrated by Andrea Peterlik-Huseinovic has been added to this year's White Raven catalogue

The White Raven label is given to books that deserve worldwide attention because of their universal themes and/or their exceptional and often innovative artistic and literary style and design.

Croatian writer Paljetak told a news conference in Dubrovnik last Friday that it was a great honour to be included into the White Ravens Catalogue.

This is a great success and great honour to us and this will enable children worldwide to be acquainted with Marin Drzic, Paljetak said.

Each year the language specialists at the International Youth Library (IYL) in Munich select newly published books from around the world that they consider to be especially noteworthy. This list of books is compiled into the annual White Ravens Catalogue, which is introduced each year at the Bologna Children's Book Fair.

This year, the Children's Book Fair was held in the Italian city of Bologna on 28-31 March. The Croatian picture book about the Dubrovnik playwright from the 16th century was one of 250 books from 40 countries selected for the latest White Ravens Catalogue.

"Marin Drzic" is the third picture book published in in the "Cvijeta" edition" launched by the Dubrovnik branch of the Matica Hrvatska, which is the Central Croatian Cultural and Publishing Society. The first two picture books are "Miho Pracat" and "Rudjer Boskovic". Pracat was a seafarer, banker and philanthropist born in the 16th century on the island of Lopud off Dubrovnik, and Boskovic is a world-famous Croatian scientist, poet and theologian, who was born on 18 May 1711 in Dubrovnik and died on 13 February 1787 in Milan.
