ZAGREB, April 27 (Hina) - A three-day European economic summit will
begin in Warsaw on Wednesday, pooling heads of state or government
from some 20 European countries.#L#
The event, called "Europe - Enlargement and Beyond", is organised by
the World Economic Forum under the auspices of Polish President
Alexander Kwasniewski. About 800 participants, mostly politicians and
business people from eastern and central Europe, have to date
confirmed their arrival at the summit, which will focus on economic,
social and political challenges of the European Union's expansion.
A Croatian delegation, led by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, should have
taken part in the event on Thursday, but cancelled its attendance
because of a parliamentary debate on Croatia's cooperation with the
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY),
scheduled for 28 April, the government's public relations office
reported on Tuesday.
