On Tuesday, Shaath was received by President Janez Drnovsek and Prime
Minister Anton Rop.
The Palestinian minister and his Slovene counterpart Dimitrij Rupel
voiced hope that Slovenia, which would soon enter the European Union
and chair the OSCE in 2005, may assume a more active role as a
possible mediator in efforts to find solutions to the crisis in the
Middle East. Rupel, who recently visited Israel, accepted the
invitation to visit Palestinian areas, too.
