Offering his best wishes for Easter, Bozanic wished that the faithful
may spread Easter joy, goodness, unity and peace. He wished peace to
the residents of Zagreb, especially those who suffer and live in
poverty, to prisoners, the abandoned, refugees and all in need of
help.
He also extended his best wishes to members of the Catholic Church in
Croatia and abroad, and all members of Christian churches, adding that
this Easter was one of great ecumenism.
"May today's holiday strengthen unity among Christ's followers," the
Zagreb archbishop said.
In his sermon, Bozanic recalled people living in countries affected by
poverty and hunger, injustice and repression, hatred and violence, and
terrorism and war and called for a prayer for world peace.
The cardinal was assisted by some 20 priests, including Zagreb
auxiliary bishops Josip Mrzljak and Vlado Kosic. Attending the
service, among others, were representatives of the state authorities,
including Parliament President Vladimir Seks and Jadranka Kosor,
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Family and War Veterans' Affairs
and Inter-generation Solidarity.
