ZAGREB, April 8 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Thursday met a delegation of the university hospital "Centro Trapianto Epatico" from Padua, the President's Office said in a statement.

The two sides discussed possible cooperation between Italy's Veneto
region and Croatia in health care, especially in the field of liver
and heart transplant surgery. The authorities of Veneto and the
leadership of the Padua hospital are willing to provide financial
assistance to Croatia in that field.
President Mesic thanked the Italian delegation for a recent successful
liver transplant performed in the Padua hospital on Croatian artist
Arsen Dedic.
The Italian delegation comprised the president of Veneto region,
Giancarlo Galan, the general director of the Padua hospital, Adriano
Cestrone, the head of the hospital's surgery clinic, Davide d'Amico,
the head of the liver transplant department, Umberto Cilio, and Dr.
Nela Srsen.
