Hebrang has said that "instead of a health policy we have politics in

Speaking at a conference on the economic and financial analysis of the
health sector and health insurance in Zagreb on Friday, Hebrang said
the sector today was politically manipulated by those who after the
2000 parliamentary elections fired people in health en masse and were
now afraid the new government would do the same.
"There's no need to fear. There will be no revanchism while I'm the
minister of health," he said.
Hebrang presented data pointing to the previous government's
revanchism, saying that in the first two years of its term the last
government fired 107 hospital managers due to their political
unsuitability.
The minister went on to say that other than the expected personnel
drain, nobody in the health sector would be dismissed.
He recalled the former government had incurred huge debts in health,
backing his claim with the chief state auditor's report for 2002.
Hebrang announced the reconstruction of health facilities would
continue.
The conference was organised by the Croatian Health Insurance Agency.
