Wednesday endorsed the government's intention to introduce flour
stamps as of this summer.#L#
The passing of the law introducing the stamps is the first step in
bringing order to the flour market and curbing the grey economy, the
clubs agreed, adding that such stamps should be introduced for other
products as well, for example meat.
Zeljko Pavlic of the Libra party said the annual turnover on the flour
grey market revolved around two billion kuna.
The government motion was endorsed also by the Croatian Peasant Party,
which today withdrew its own bill on the regulation of the flour
market.
The Croatian Party of Rights club, as well as some other deputies,
said the flour stamps bill should be adopted under regular and not
under urgent procedure. Under the bill, the physical or legal person
first putting the flour on the market must stamp it.
Agriculture Minister Petar Cobankovic said the introduction of flour
stamps should generate about 35 million kuna in the first year alone.
