A public statement of the Catholic dignitaries in Serbia-Montenegro
was issued by the Office of Belgrade Archbishop, Stanislav Hocevar.
The bishops said the latest incidents saddened them, and added that
the demolition of churches and mosques did not solve the problems but
represented inflammatory speech which was taking new dimensions.
The dignitaries called on the authorities in Serbia and Kosovo to do
everything so as to find and eliminate the roots and causes of the
conduct which would lead to conflict and death rather than peace and
life.
There are no reports that any Catholic church in Vojvodina and Serbia
have been demolished in the latest protest rallies, the statement
read.
