ZAGREB, March 17 (Hina) - The Democratic Centre (DC) party forwarded to
the chairman of parliament's foreign affairs committee on Wednesday a
proposal for the establishment of an international team of experts
which would establish the truth about the 1990s Homeland War.#L#
The proposal was forwarded to said committee because it is due to
discuss political allegations contained in the Hague war crimes
tribunal's latest indictments against Croatian generals which the DC
feels are untrue, unacceptable and contrary to the Croatian
parliament's Declaration on the Homeland War.
The team of experts would include respected lawmen, historians,
journalists, war psychologists, generals, humanitarians and
politicians familiar with the war and politics in the territory of the
former Yugoslavia, the DC said in a statement.
The party says Alain Finkielkraut, Hans Dietrich Genscher, Roy
Guttman, Doris Pack, Sadako Ogata, Bill Clinton and Margaret Thatcher
should be included in the team to objectively establish what happened
in Europe's southeast after the break-up of Socialist Yugoslavia.
The DC says that the Hague tribunal is the only place to try war
criminals, but adds that establishing the truth about other
developments in the territory of the former Yugoslavia is equally
important for Croatia's credibility and that of the international
community.
