Speaking to reporters in Rijeka on Wednesday, Tremul said funds
earmarked for the Rijeka-based Italian-language publisher EDIT had
been increased by one million kuna, i.e. by one-third.
He also welcomed the 7.6 million kuna set aside for the work of
Italian language teachers in Croatian schools in Istria.
Tremul commended the earmarking of one million kuna for the building
of a gymnasium for the Italian elementary and secondary school in
Pula, and of 5.5 million for the completion of the Italian elementary
school in Buje.
Tremul said Radin had started talks with representatives of the
government to enable all members of the Italian community to be issued
with bilingual identity cards, regardless of which part of Croatia
they reside in.
