President Mesic pointed to the positive effects of cooperation with
the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). He
also spoke about Croatia becoming more open to cooperation with its
neighbours, adopting laws on the protection of minorities, and
aspirations to adopt comprehensive European standards.
The president stressed that it was in Croatia's interest to
reconstruct war-damaged houses and ensure the return of the displaced
and refugees and make it possible for them to reclaim their property.
He also spoke about the necessity of reviving the economy in formerly
war-stricken areas.
Kubis said that cooperation between Croatia and the OSCE had
progressed in terms of quality, and added that it was very important
that dialogue and cooperation with the OSCE was visible in all areas.
The interests of the European Union, the OSCE and Croatia go in the
same direction, Kubis said adding that Croatia's resolve and will to
settle open issues was positively perceived in the overall European
