ZAGREB, March 4 (Hina) - Ante Markov of the Croatian Peasant Party
(HSS) called on the government on Thursday to confirm or deny a report
that the Hague-based UN war crimes tribunal had issued fresh
indictments against Croatian army generals.#L#
"There is a report going round that fresh indictments have arrived
from The Hague," the HSS deputy said in parliament during a day-long
voting on amendments to this year's draft national budget.
Markov said that members of parliament and the Croatian public had the
right to full information, and insisted that someone from the
government say whether the report was true or not.
Parliament deputy speaker Luka Bebic, who was running the session,
said he had no knowledge of the indictments, adding that the public
would be duly informed as soon as there was any information.
