Koprivnica, March 4 (Hina) - The association of war veterans employed
at the leading food company "Podravka" in Koprivnica issued a
statement on Thursday expressing surprise at the advertising of the
Vinko Bresan film "Svjedoci" (Witnesses), which it said spoke of
alleged Croatian crimes committed during the Homeland War.#L#
The statement, signed by association chairman Mladen Pavkovic, said
that the film had received "some marginal awards at the Berlin Film
Festival" and that it was used "to prove that Croats were criminals".
"We condemn any crime, but one should bear in mind that Serbs, and not
Croats, were aggressors," Pavkovic wrote, asking Bresan why it had not
occurred to him to make a film about Ovcara, Skabrnja, Vocin, the
shelling of Dubrovnik, the destruction of Pakrac, about more than
4,000 Croatian children who were orphaned by war, or about hundreds of
devastated Catholic churches.
