BRUSSELS/ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic has extended condolences on the death of Macedonia's President Boris Trajkovski, who was killed in a plane crash in southern Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday
morning.

"This is a big blow to Macedonia and the entire region," Mesic told a
news conference in Brussels where he held a speech at the European
Parliament earlier in the day.
Mesic reiterated that Trajkovski was his friend, and described the
late Macedonian president as a great proponent of democracy and
peaceful solutions of crises.
Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader sent a letter of condolence to his
Macedonian counterpart Branko Crvenkovski on the death of President
Trajkovski.
Sanader said he was shocked at the news about the tragic death of
Trajkovski and his close associates in the plane crash. "It is a huge
loss for Macedonia and its citizens as well as for all countries in
the region," Sanader said in his letter.
Croatian Premier praised the late Macedonian president for his
contribution to the reconciliation process in Macedonia and to the
strengthening of stability of the entire region.
Croatian Parliament President Vladimir Seks sent a letter of
condolence to his Macedonian counterpart, Ljupce Jordanovski, on the
death of Trajkovski.
