Minister Zuzul pointed to the encouraging messages he had received
during talks he held on the international level since he took office
less then two months ago. He also confirmed Croatia's commitment to
meet all Copenhagen criteria and efficiently implement the protection
of minorities, the return of refugees and judicial reform in Croatia,
the statement said.
German parliamentarians expressed support to Croatia and positively
assessed the activities of Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and other
members of the Croatian government. They expressed satisfaction with
the fact that apart from Germany other leading European Union states
supported Croatia. German MPs said Croatia's cooperation with the
Hague-based war crimes tribunal was crucial for the positive opinion
of the European Commission, the ministry said in a statement.
The officials agreed it would be good for the entire region if Croatia
joined NATO and the EU soon because it would help other countries on
the path towards the two associations. German MPs said Croatia was a
good model and a bridge of stabilisation and democratisation of the
region.
During their two-day stay in Croatia, members of the German delegation
also met Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, Parliament President Vladimir
Seks, Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic and European Integration Minister
Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic.
