ZAGREB, Feb 17 (Hina) - The chairman of the Croatian Mine Action Centre (HCR) Council, Djuro Brodarac, said on Tuesday the HCR was planning to return to the community this year a mine-free area of some 38 square kilometres, draw up a
new draft national program to overcome mine-related problems, and have a new law on de-mining adopted.
ZAGREB, Feb 17 (Hina) - The chairman of the Croatian Mine Action Centre
(HCR) Council, Djuro Brodarac, said on Tuesday the HCR was planning to
return to the community this year a mine-free area of some 38 square
kilometres, draw up a new draft national program to overcome
mine-related problems, and have a new law on de-mining adopted.#L#
Mine removal must be paid generously, but it also must be performed
professionally, Brodarac said, adding that mine removal experts
receiving a monthly salary of 1,700 kuna (approx. EUR220) would no
longer be tolerated.
HCR officials estimate that the centre would need some 400 million
kuna for this year's mine removal activities.
