ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - The consumer protection society "Potrosac" has
urged the ministries of agriculture and economy to urgently set up
offices, agencies and commissions and to draw up by-laws to prevent
the false and incomplete declaration of foodstuffs on the market.#L#
The society issued a statement on Sunday saying that last week's
findings of the Osijek Laboratory for Molecular Diagnostics showed
that legislation on the protection of consumers, food, nature and the
right to information was not being implemented.
The society urges the immediate introduction of inspections and
penalties and the systematic and complete informing of the public on
the measures taken, as well as the systematic education of consumers.
It also requests the systematic implementation of laws on the
protection of consumers, food and nature.
