In keeping with the law, the ministers declared their assets recently,
the only one failing to do so being Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul, who
is on a European diplomatic tour.
According to the overview, some ministers vacation in their country
houses, some own shares, some considerable land.
Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic has declared owning an art collection
which has been registered as a cultural monument since 1976. He is
also the owner of an ethnographic collection.
Most ministers drive middle category cars, with the exception of
Biskupic and Science, Education and Sports Minister Dragan Primorac,
who own a BMW 5, and Justice Minister Vesna Skare-Ozbolt and Prime
Minister Sanader's wife Mirjana, who drive a Mercedes. The PM owns a
1967 Renault 8 as well as a large library and art collection.
The only one driving a motorbike is Sea, Tourism, Transport and
Development Minister Bozidar Kalmeta, who owns a Yamaha. Defence
Minister Berislav Roncevic is the only one who has not declared a
family car, while not one minister has declared owning a boat.
Most ministers live off monthly salaries, with only a few augmenting
the family budget with part-time jobs, for example Health Minister
Andrija Hebrang, Interior Minister Marijan Mlinaric, and Primorac.
Half the ministers have reported they have savings, although the total
amount, 128,000 euros and 320,000 kuna, is much lower than the total
credit commitments the ministers are paying.
