Addressing the event, the former president of the association of the
doctors-volunteers, Andrija Hebrang, who is the incumbent Deputy Prime
Minister and Health Minister, swooped down on the former coalition
government, accusing it of removing members of the said association
from managing boards or the posts of directors of hospitals or other
health institutions after it came in power in 2000.
"In the period from 2000 to 2004, 247 members of the association, who
were on managing boards or directors of hospitals, were replaced as
they were politically unsuitable and undesirable," Hebrang said
explaining that members of the association, who gained experienced in
extremely difficult conditions in the war, were a pillar of the public
health system after the war.
