Croatia is in an active, offensive phase and we plan to keep it that
way, Sanader said at a government session on Thursday and reiterated
that the government's objective was to bring the country closer to the
EU.
For Croatia to receive a positive opinion from the European Council,
which is expected to happen in June, it must meet all the criteria,
including those of political nature, such as cooperation with the
Hague war crimes tribunal, the return of refugees and the judicial
reform, Sanader said.
Croatia will do that not only to receive a positive opinion, but
because it is in its interest, the PM said.
He informed the ministers that reports from the meetings which Foreign
Minister Miomir Zuzul held in London and Dublin were very good.
Sanader also positively assessed yesterday's report which ICTY Chief
Prosecutor Carla del Ponte submitted in Brussels, adding that such a
report was expected.
