Prime Minister Sanader has instructed the Interior Ministry to
investigate the case and find the culprit, Macek said.
"The Croatian government supports the return of all refugees and
returnees who left their homes because of the war. We most vehemently
condemn the burning of houses in Biljani Donji in Zadar County, which
we feel is barbaric and uncivilised. The government will continue
implementing the policy envisaging the return of all refugees and the
reconstruction of houses destroyed in the war," Macek said.
The reconstructed house of 70-year-old returnee Dusan Lakic was set on
fire between 1 and 7 February. The fire was reported to the police the
Monday.
