which the Croatian Bishops' Conference (HBK) exerted on state and educational institutions with an aim of preventing the implementation of the MEMOAIDS programme.
ZAGREB, Feb 9 (Hina) - Iskorak, an association promoting the rights of
sex and gender minorities, on Monday issued a statement signed by a
number of non-governmental institutions and several parties, which
voiced concern over pressure which the Croatian Bishops' Conference
(HBK) exerted on state and educational institutions with an aim of
preventing the implementation of the MEMOAIDS programme.#L#
Iskorak calls on the Education and Sports Ministry and the Health and
Social Welfare Ministry not to cancel the programme and warns that
obstructing its implementation would constitute a violation of the
fundamental human right to have access to scientific information on
the protection of health and protection from sexually transmitted
diseases.
"It is impermissible and unconstitutional for religious communities to
impose their beliefs on educational and medical institutions, using
non-scientific arguments," Iskorak said in the statement which was
signed by some 60 associations
