ZAGREB, Feb 3(Hina) - Croatian Health Insurance Agency (HZZO) director
Ljubica Djukanovic said on Tuesday the proposal for her replacement
due to unconscientious dealings constituted political revenge-seeking
on the part of Health and Social Welfare Minister Andrija Hebrang.#L#
"This is about Minister Hebrang's revanchism, who by squaring accounts
with people in the health sector is denying Prime Minister Ivo
Sanader's claims that experts will keep their jobs," she told
reporters.
Djukanovic said she had nothing against the government relieving her
of her duty but added she rejected the claim that she had been
unconscientious in doing her job.
She called on the State Auditor's Office to examine the work of the
HZZO. "If they establish that I performed my duty unprofessionally and
brought the exercising of health protection into question, they can
initiate proceedings against me instead of having Hebrang accusing,
judging and passing sanctions against me."
Djukanovic announced that if the government accepted the accusation
that she had managed the HZZO unconscientiously, she would defend her
rights in court.
