ZAGREB, Jan 15 (Hina) - Representatives of minority religious
communities met in Zagreb on Thursday to discuss access to the media.#L#
The meeting was held at the Serb Orthodox Church offices in Zagreb
under the chairmanship of the Metropolitan of Zagreb, Ljubljana and
Italy, Jovan.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Islamic community,
the Evangelical Church, the Jewish community, the Evangelist Church,
the Adventist Church and the Alliance of Baptist Churches.
Participants agreed that they should make better use of the
possibilities offered by the Croatian Constitution, the Law on the
Legal Position of Religious Communities, and agreements regulating
common interests.
They called for support to programmes promoting multiconfessionalism,
multiculturalism and ecumenism, which have already received public
support, given the fact that it is difficult for individual religious
communities to obtain adequate coverage by Croatian Radio and
Television. They also called for using the positive experience of the
Catholic Church in its relations with HRT and other media.
Religious communities were urged to demonstrate their readiness for
integration into society and fully respect the identity and values of
each community, reads the statement.
