After a meeting which was held in the government's offices, the HSLS
acting president, Ivan Cehok, told reporters the HDZ had accepted the
HSLS' nominations in principle and that the government would probably
appoint the nominated officials at a session on Monday. This refers to
the four state secretaries. Cehok went on to say that most nominations
for the posts of assistant ministers were accepted as well.
"The HSLS did not insist on certain positions, we did not discuss
posts, but proposed competent staff," Cehok said.
He declined to give the names of the nominated officials. According to
other sources from the HSLS, Zelimir Janjic (HSLS) is likely to
become a state secretary at the ministry of education, science and
sports.
Tajana Kesic Sapic (HSLS), the current head of the Development Agency
in Bjelovar, was nominated for the post of state secretary for
entrepreneurship at the economy ministry.
Jadranko Mijalic (HSLS) was nominated for the post of state secretary
at the ministry of maritime affairs, transport and tourism.
The fourth candidate for the post of state secretary is Nino Zganec, a
non-partisan candidate, who has so far been an assistant minister at
the ministry of labour and social welfare. He was nominated as state
secretary at the new ministry of health and social welfare.
A senior HDZ official, Jadranka Kosor, who is also Deputy Prime
Minister, voiced satisfaction with the deal with the HSLS, adding that
inter-party consulations would continue.
