PRISTINA, Dec 22 (Hina) - Veton Surroi, a prominent Kosovo
Albanian politician and member of Kosovo's negotiating team, said on Thursday
that the existing borders in the Balkans would not be changed, and that it was
normal for the former administrative border between Kosovo and Serbia to become
one between the two states. "Should internal lines be drawn within
Kosovo, the borders of this part of the Balkans would be brought into
question," Surroi told the Belgrade-based Beta news agency, adding that such a
change would trigger separatist processes in almost all areas of the former
Yugoslavia.
Surroi, who chairs the Committee on Ethnic Communities within Kosovo's
negotiating team, called for the acceptance of universal values regarding the
position of ethnic communities in Serbia and Kosovo.
Talks on the status of Kosovo officially start in January. Serbia wants
Kosovo to be divided into two entities and to remain part of Serbia.
