During negotiations between the EU and Croatia, Italy will take into account Zagreb's attitude for which it believes it is discriminatory against and unacceptable for Italians when it comes to the real estate market, spokesman for the Italian Foreign Ministry Pasquale Terracciano said.
Terracciano quested the Italian Minister for Relations with Parliament, Carlo Giovanardi, as saying that Croatia's admission into the EU would be prevent until the country signs an agreement with Italy, similar to the one that Zagreb had signed with Vienna. Giovanardi was alluding to Croatia-Austria agreement on the return of property to Germans who fled Croatia after World War II.
Giovanardi said this in Trieste after being criticised that the Italian Government failed to take a firmer position towards Croatia regarding real estate.
