Cacic made the statement at a press conference held by the HNS in the seaside resort of Opatija on Sunday, at which he was asked to comment on the latest developments in the country following Gotovina's arrest in Spain.
Cacic said this was an exceptionally positive act which proved that Croatia was becoming a law-based state.
This could have been done a long time ago, the HNS leader said, adding that there had been lack of will to make such a move.
He assessed that rallies organised throughout the country in support of Gotovina could not destabilise Croatia because they had neither the support of state institutions nor financial backing.
