Speaking to reporters during his visit to Urosevac, General Harrel said that not a single person had been brought to prison in Bondsteel since February this year.
The International Committee of the Red Cross makes regular checks of our legal prison as it has before. I have been here since February and not once has a person been brought to that prison, the US general said in a comment on reports of the existence of secret US prisons in some European countries.
Harrel said that with the transfer of authority to the Kosovo police service the Bondsteel prison became almost unnecessary.
If KFOR (Kosovo Force) troops stop a suspect, they hand that person over to the Kosovo police service, and all suspects should answer before the Kosovo judiciary. That is all and the only thing I can say, the general said.
