ZAGREB, Nov 13 (Hina) - The Croatian government has said it will request full information on the decision by the Privredna Banka Zagreb (PBZ) bank to grant loans to members of the Italian Union under privileged conditions.

"We will request full information from PBZ Director Bozo Prka," Prime Minister Ivo Sanader told the commercial Nova TV network on Saturday evening.

Media have reported that PBZ, which is owned by the Italian IntesaBCI group, and the Italian Union signed an agreement in Rijeka on Friday allowing members of the Italian Union and the Italian community in Croatia to take loans at lower interest rates.

Media described the bank's decision as discriminating and politically motivated, whereas PBZ said that it was usual procedure for its VIP clients.

"The first contact we had this morning showed that the information is not correct," Sanader said. "If it were true, it would be politicisation of the banking system and we will not allow that. We will vehemently reject it and will find a way how to warn the owners about it," he added.
