laid wreaths at graves of their compatriots at Zagreb's Mirogoj cemetery on
Friday as part of Armistice Day ceremonies commemorating the dead from the
First and the Second World War. French Ambassador Francois
Saint-Paul laid a wreath at the monument in honour of the French killed in the
two world wars, and Ambassadors Juergen Staks of Germany and Alessandro Grafini
of Italy did te same at the monuments commemorating their compatriots.
On 11 November 1918, Germany signed an armistice with the Allies in
the French town of Compiegne, which was treated as the official end of World
War I.
