The Latvian delegation was received by the Chairman of the Committee on Interparliamentary Cooperation, Milorad Pupovac, and his deputy, Tonci Tadic.
The talks focused on the role of parliaments and the importance of parliamentary cooperation in the process of accession to the European Union.
Pupovac underlined the importance of the Croatian Parliament's cooperation with parliaments in neighbouring countries in dealing with problems from the past and restoring confidence necessary for the development and stability of the region.
Paegle spoke of the experience of Latvia as a new member of the European Union, saying that EU membership was not an end in itself but the implementation of reforms that brought benefits to society as a whole.
Paegle said that Croatia could count on full support from Latvia on its path to full membership of the EU, because Latvia saw Croatia as a key factor of stability and democracy in the region. She also stressed the need for promoting economic cooperation between the two countries.
