"My opinion is that we have exhausted all negotiating possibilities with Croatia. That is why it would be better for us to opt for arbitration and wait for a final settlement," Drnovsek said at a press conference in Ljubljana on Wednesday, where he spoke of the results of a recent summit of heads of Central European countries in Zagreb and prospects for Western Balkan countries to join the European Union.
Asked to comment on the Slovene government's proposal that the border issue be dealt with as part of Croatia's accession talks with the EU, the Slovene president said that it would not be "wise".
"That would tempt Slovenia to block the process of Croatia's EU entry, which would be very bad and would lead to deterioration of relations," Drnovsek said.
