SINJ, Oct 7 (Hina) - Asked to comment on Thursday's arrest of
journalist Josip Jovic and the indictment the UN war crimes tribunal issued
against him for contempt of court, the president of the Social Democratic Party
(SDP), Ivica Racan, told reporters in the southern Croatian town of Sinj on
Friday that he believed the charges were unjustified. "I am sorry
that this happened, but the rule of law must be respected," Racan told a news
conference.
Asked if his party advocated early parliamentary elections, Racan said
yes but added that this was not up to them because the SDP was not the one to
propose early elections.
