Company officials believe that the Mirna will stay about a week in Singapore until it undergoes the necessary repairs, after which a decision will be made on its next journey because as of September 24 it will be officially available for new jobs.
The Indonesian authorities detained the ship in late 2004 with the explanation that its travel documents were inappropriate. The ship was released on September 15, 2005 when it sailed out with its 17-member crew from the port of Surabaya.
In April this year an Indonesian court ruled that the ship's captain should pay a fine of some USD 2,200 for navigation with inappropriate travel documents. The fine was paid, but the ship and its crew could not leave Indonesia.
On August 22 the Indonesian Navy impounded the ship and detained its crew.
On September 8 Losinjska Plovidba and the insurance agency P&I issued a credit letter with guarantees amounting to one million dollars that was sought by the Indonesian authorities, after which the ship was allowed to leave the port of Surabaya.
