Also present at the meeting were Parliament Vice-President Djurdja Adlesic and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Inspectorate, the Government's Public Relations Office said in a press release.
Representatives of the Baby Beef association warned of excessive beef imports into the country, particularly from Brazil and Poland, and of possible effects this might have on domestic production. They also questioned the quality of imported meat.
According to recent media reports, Croatia imported 2,844 tonnes of beef in the first half of 2005, or 400 tonnes more than in the entire last year.
