"I will propose that the government reconsider the approval it gave to the Croatian Privatisation Fund, and I expect that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office will give us an opinion on the entire process," Sanader told reporters in Dubrovnik in a comment on the latest developments regarding a deal between the Croatian Privatisation Fund and privatisation-investment funds in the Liburnia case.
The prime minister said that he would propose that the government withdraw its approval should the Public Prosecutor find that "not everything was done in accordance with the law". He pointed out that privatisation in Croatia must be "absolutely transparent".
The government's decision to award the majority of shares to DOM Holding and SN Holding has encountered severe criticism from local authorities and residents of Opatija as well as from many political parties and the President of the Republic, Stjepan Mesic.
Commenting on the latest rise in fuel prices, Sanader said that the government would intervene if the price of Eurosuper 95 exceeded eight kuna (1.08 euro).
