An investigation has been launched following a report by the Indirect Taxation Authority whose officials have on several occasions foiled attempts to illegally import goods of Chinese origin into Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Earlier this month, 620 sabres and machetes and 180 various types of knives were found in a container that was supposed to contain textiles.
Towards the end of June, more than 9,000 cold steel weapons, including knives, knuckledusters and Japanese throwing stars known as Shuriken, were discovered by customs officials in Tuzla.
The smuggled weapons, estimated to be worth in excess of 45,000 euros, have not been offered for sale anywhere in the country and the investigation is yet to determine who they were intended for.
