Radjenovic wondered how a contract with a more favourable price could be a basis for corruption, asking those who were accusing him of graft to provide evidence for their allegations.
The press on Tuesday accused Radjenovic of fixing the tender so that Oktal Pharma could win it, which is in contrast to his previous image of an anti-corruption campaigner.
The name of Igor Radjenovic came into limelight when in May 2008 he was assaulted after reporting corruption in the Zagrebacke Ceste company while he was the director of that company run by the City of Zagreb. The attackers were identified and prosecuted but it has not yet been established who contracted the assault.
Handing the copies of the tender documentation to reporters, Radjenovic said that the acceptance of Oktal Pharma's tender resulted in annual savings of HRK 2.8 million.
Asked who could be framing him with these accusations, he said that it seemed stupid to him that Medika would defame him.
Radjenovic said that he had received several "friendly calls" suggesting that he should reconsider his decision.
He said that he would continue to insist on greater transparency of every tendering procedure in Gradske Ljekarne Zagreb.
Radjenovic is an official of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The head of the SDP branch in the City of Zagreb, Davor Bernardic, said that they had not yet been acquainted with all details of the tender but that the party believed that Radjenovic and other SDP members on the Steering Board of Gradske Ljekarne Zagreb had acted correctly and conscientiously.
