Autor: mses
ZAGREB, March 15 (Hina) - The trade between Croatia and Belgium has been on a steady rise for years and there is great potential for its further augmentation, the educational conference "Belgium - Your Business Destination in the Heart of Europe", held in the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK), heard in Zagreb on Tuesday.

The event, organised by the HGK and the Belgian Trade Office in the Republic of Croatia, drew more than 150 participants, managers from Croatian and international companies, lawyers, and representatives of Belgian companies in Croatia.

Addressing the conference, Suncanica Skupnjak Kapic of the HGK said that Belgium was the 10th biggest foreign investor in Croatia, ranked 15th on the list of Croatia's trading partners according to the volume of exchange of goods and services.

In 2010, Croatia-Belgium trade increased by 1.39 percent to EUR 273.3 million, with Croatia's exports to that western European country climbing by 43 percent to EUR 68.5 million, and imports falling by 7.6 percent to EUR 204.8 million. In Croatia's exports, molding boxes and raw tobacco prevailed, while medicines, petroleum oils and cars were the main imported goods from Belgium.

The head of the Belgian Trade Office in Croatia, Antonio Garcia Postigo, also spoke about doing business in Belgium.
