Croatia's annual inflation rate 2.2% in February

ZAGREB, March 15 (Hina) - Prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by consumer price indices, increased by 0.5 percent in February from January this year, and by 2.2 percent as compared to February 2010, Croatia's Central Bureau of Statistics reported on Tuesday.

Thus, February saw the annual inflation rate of 2.2 percent, while in January it was 1.9 percent.

A higher annual inflation rate was last recorded in May 2009 when it was 2.7 percent.

Broken down by groups of goods, prices of food and nonalcoholic beverages registered the highest monthly rise, on the average by 1.2 percent from January to February.

The prices of house furnishings and maintenance and house cleaning increased by 1.0 percent.

On the other hand, prices of clothes and footwear in February were on the average 0.3 percent lower than in January.

Prices for education remained the same.
