The decision was made at the request of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of Bosnia-Herzegovina. A bill on national holidays that is in parliamentary procedure suggests that July 11 be permanently marked as a remembrance day for the Srebrenica victims.
The media in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday recalled that the House of Representatives of the state parliament did not adopt a resolution on Srebrenica due to opposition by Serb deputies.
The resolution on Srebrenica was discussed at a session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday and its adoption was proposed by two Bosniak deputies.
The document was to have contained a text almost identical to the text of a similar document adopted by the US Senate and Congress.
The proposal was strongly opposed by Serb deputies who said that the US resolution was one-sided and did not correspond with historical facts and positions on the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina in European countries.
