The British police officers will hold a two-day seminar for community police coordinators in Zagreb and visit several police stations in Zagreb and Slavonia where the project is being implemented.
The best British bobby in 2004, Stephen Cummings, will speak about his professional experience.
Opening the two-day seminar, police official Marko Rasic said that international organisations considered the Croatian project of community police a successful example, which had enabled the Ministry of the Interior to take on the role of a regional leader in presenting, giving advice and assisting in the implementation of similar programs in the region.
In the past three years, Croatian police officers were on five study tours, including three in Great Britain. All the tours, including the return visit of British police officers, were organised by the OSCE and the British Embassy in Croatia.
The project of community police was launched in several Croatian cities in mid 2003 and it was later expanded to other parts of the country.
By the end of next year Croatia is expected to have 693 community police officers and 53 coordinators, Croatian police officials said.
