The books were handed over, alongside documents on the damage the sustained, at the Zagreb-Ljubljana Metropolitan See in Zagreb in the presence of NSK manager Josip Stipanov, Zagreb-Ljubljana Metropolitan Jovan, Serb Orthodox Church Museum head Slobodan Mileusnic and representatives of the Croatian Culture Ministry.
In early 1992, at the height of the war in Croatia, the NSK assumed the obligation to preserve the books of the Pakrac eparchy library. This was done at the request and with the cooperation of the Croatian Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Monuments.
The books, which were in poor condition because of the war, were transferred to Zagreb, where urgent measures were taken to restore and preserve them.
