After the departure of the former owner, the Russian Mechel Steel Gorup, the rolling mill for this kind of tubes now resumes with the largest part of its production, with the support of the Croatian government, the ironworks' CEO, Dami Begovic said today.
At the moment, 1,000 of a total of 1,600 workers of the ironworks are employed, Begovic added.
The production in the steel mill was also resumed earlier this month which will make it possible for the ironworks to begin producing 1,500 tonnes of seamless tubes for a well-known buyer from the United Arab Emirates.
The Ivo Sanader cabinet issued guarantees which enabled the ironworks to be granted a loan by the Zagrebacka Bank for resuming the production and securing funds for purchasing raw material and spare parts, worth 18 million dollars, according to Begovic.
