The sudden cancellation of an international conference that was to have been held in Dubrovnik last Sunday to present the reform of the Croatian health system was interpreted by the media as caused by the cancellation of the reform. The Vecernji List daily of today quotes reliable sources as saying that the reform was stopped at Sanader's request.
"That is not correct. Croatia cannot finance its health system at the current rate in the medium term, let alone in the long term," Sanader said during a visit to the construction site of a future Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb on Friday.
"We have to make do with what we've got. Today's speculation in the press is not correct, (Health) Minister Ljubicic has my full support in continuing the reform started by his predecessor Andrija Hebrang," Sanader said.
